30 Days in MayDay 9

No. 9 — Sam Sessions – 1973 M.V.S. Eagle/Foyt

Sessions joined the M.V.S. team after an excellent 1972 season that saw him win the USAC sprint car title, finish fourth in the Indianapolis 500 and ninth in the Championship (IndyCar) points standings.

M.V.S. represented the initials of the last names of the three partners – Stan Malless, Bob Voigt and Dick Sommers.

Sessions squeezed in the field, qualifying on the last day to earn the 32nd starting spot.

He dropped out after 17 laps and finished 28th.
