Region Racer and Crown Point, Indiana native Logan Gomez will take the next step in his racing career at this weekend’s Red Bull Global Rallycross event in Washington DC, where he will make his Supercar debut. Gomez will take the wheel of the #77 Royal Purple Ford Fiesta at RFK Stadium for Friday and Saturday’s race action.

“I’ve known for a while that Red Bull GRC is where I want to be,” Gomez said. “They have some of the best racing action, drivers and a great fan base. I can’t wait to finally get behind the wheel of a Supercar for Royal Purple.”

Gomez is no stranger to the rallycross paddock, having worked with the series for the past two seasons as part of its track build crew. On race days, he has doubled as a spotter, helping navigate Austin Dyne to third in the Supercar championship through six of the season’s 12 races.

“Working towards getting a ride I’ve found a position building the tracks and have learned from the inside how everything works within the series,” Gomez added. “I have also learned a lot about the racing strategy from spotting and working with Austin’s team throughout race weekends. It’s been a great racing series to work for.”

Before making the move to rallycross, Gomez ran two full seasons in Indy Lights, taking one victory and four podium finishes. Gomez defeated Alex Lloyd by .0005 seconds at Chicagoland Speedway in 2007, a finish verified by the Guinness Book of World Records as the closest in motor racing history.

Red Bull Global Rallycross Washington DC will air on NBC on Saturday, August 15 at 3PM ET. Tickets are still available for Friday and Saturday’s action and can be purchased at by clicking on this link.
