Will Power and his three Penske Racing teammates: Helio Castroneves, Juan Pablo Montoya and Simon Pagenaud took four of top five spots on the grid for Saturday’s Angie List Grand Prix, here at Indianapolis on the 2.439-mile road course.

They are joined by Scott Dixon, who will start from the second spot alongside Power, and Dixon’s Chip Ganassi Racing teammate; Tony Kanaan, who will start on the outside of the third row.

The quest for the pole during the three rounds of qualifying, resulted in a new Indianapolis road course record being set twice by Penske’s Power. He first eclipsed the track record by running a 1:09.6443 minute lap during the third qualifying session.

The “Fast Six” that competed for the Pole were: #1 Will Power , #22 Simon Pagenaud, #3 Helio Castroneves, #10 Tony Kanaan, #2 Juan Pablo Montoya and #9 Scott Dixon — Penske’s Power set another new Indianapolis Road Course record at 1:09.4886

IndyCar QualThis is the 38th career pole position of Will Power’s career, the sixth most in Indy car history. It is Power’s second pole of the season, who also claimed the Verizon P1 Award in the season opener at St. Petersburg, Fla., where he also set the track record.

Team Penske has claimed the Verizon P1 Award at all five races this season. In addition to Power’s two, Helio Castroneves took the pole on the streets of Long Beach and at Barber Motorsports Park, and Juan Pablo Montoya started first at NOLA Motorsports Park by virtue of entrant points after qualifying was canceled by rain.

The Honda teams are struggling with the road course aero package and spent their Saturday morning warmup session attempting to carve out more speed from their mounts. Honda teams were attempting differing braking scenarios in an attempt to pull more speed in the turns. The fastest Honda car in the Saturday morning session was Graham Rahal in the Rahal Letterman Lanigan #15 Steak ‘n Shake Dallara with a lap of 1:11.0681
